It seems we feeble minded Scots don't know what's good for us. Just as well we have England (cunningly disguised as the United Kingdom) to show us the way, eh? If anyone were in any doubt that this is the prevailing view of the Tory Government at Westminster, they were set straight by Euphegenia Doubtfire, Secretary of State for Larry the Cat and occasional Scottish Secretary, who today told the BBC that whatever "Team UK" managed to salvage from the wreckage that is Brexit, would be good for Scotland.
To make matters worse, so-called Scottish Labour seem to agree with Mrs. Doubtfire. Their head girl, Kezia Dogdoo, is "absolutely clear" that if push comes to shove, the Scottish Government should simply submit to whatever it is the Tories come away with from the Brexit negotiations, by ruling out a second independence referendum. Kezia, poor fool that she is, thinks that by coming together and collectively surrendering to right-wing British/English nationalism, Scotland will somehow be miraculously united. How naive. Or plain stupid.
And before anyone says it, I am not altogether against British/Engish nationalism- they are perfectly entitled to it if that is what they want. I'd just really rather Scotland had nothing to do with it. I am increasingly convinced that there is nothing the UK could do to Scotland that would convince Kezia and Woolly Willie that perhaps Scotland might be better off out of it.
