The Liberal Democrats have made their fair share of poor choices in recent years. One, was to publicly knife their alcoholic, but highly effective leader, who had lead them to their greatest electoral success since 1923, in the back. Another, was to replace the amiable alky with an insipid geriatric, who lasted about as long in the job, as he used to take to run a 100 metres in a previous life.
And we all know how getting into bed with the Tories ended. Of the few survivors, to be pulled alive from the wreckage of the Lib-Dems catastrophic 2015 general election campaign, the one called Tim was chosen to lead. Tim prays every night. Which may, or may not have helped his cause. After his tragic death, paying tribute in the Commons, Tim had the gall to tell Kennedy's grieving son, who was in the public gallery "I am proud of your Daddy, I loved him to bits, I am proud to call him my friend". Tim was also one of the 25 Liberal Democrat MP's who publicly stabbed Charles Kennedy in the back.
Tim says his party is now "back in the big time" because they recaptured a staunchly pro-Remain seat they had previously held since it's creation, from a Brexiteer who had tarnished his image by flirting with racism in his failed London mayoral campaign. Tim is away with the fairies.
